The coastal journey follows historic sea routes along the Atlantic Seaboard, passing the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay with the Twelve Apostles mountain range rising dramatically along the route. Travelling towards Hout Bay, a traditional fishing harbour, the road continues along Chapman’s Peak Drive, an engineering landmark carved into steep coastal cliffs. The route reaches the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, long associated with global maritime trade routes, before returning via False Bay and stopping at Boulders Beach, home to the protected African penguin colony.
